Where to file a complaint to the PIP? Find the competent inspectorate
We determine competence using the rule given by the PIP: a complaint about an employer goes to the inspectorate or branch competent for the employer's registered office. Where you live does not matter.
How we determine the result
- We look up the place in the TERYT register (Statistics Poland, GUS, as at 2026-01-01). We distinguish places with the same name by municipality, county and voivodeship.
- We assign the voivodeship to a District Labour Inspectorate under § 1 of this act: Order No. 16 of the Marshal of the Sejm of 3 December 2007 on the seats and territorial competence of District Labour Inspectorates (Zarządzenie Nr 16 Marszałka Sejmu z 3 grudnia 2007 r., M.P. 2007 nr 92 poz. 1006).
- We do not assign branches, because the PIP does not publish the areas they cover. We show the list of branches of the inspectorate.
The employer's registered office rule comes from the PIP page on complaints. It does not follow directly from the Act on the National Labour Inspectorate. PIP website. If you do not know the employer's registered office or it is abroad, ask the PIP helpline which inspectorate is competent, and give all known employer addresses and the places where you work in your complaint.
