New labour inspector ID card design from 1 January 2027
By Order No. 12 of 21 September 2026, the Marshal of the Sejm set a new design of the official ID card for employees of the National Labour Inspectorate (Państwowa Inspekcja Pracy, PIP) who carry out or supervise inspection activities. The order was published in the Monitor Polski official journal on 24 September 2026 (M.P. 2026 item 939).
From when
The order enters into force on 1 January 2027. Until that day, inspectors use ID cards of the previous design. ID cards issued according to the old design remain valid for no longer than one year from the entry into force of the order.
What the new ID card looks like
According to the annex to the order, it is a personalised card in ID-1 format, that is the size of a payment card. The front shows, among other things, a photograph, the ID card number, first name and surname, position, area of activity and expiry date. The back contains, among other things, information about the right to inspect without prior notice and at any time, and a QR code.
Why this matters during an inspection
The inspector carries out an inspection of a business after showing the ID card and an authorisation (Article 24 of the Act on the National Labour Inspectorate). If the inspection has to be started immediately, the ID card is sufficient, and the authorisation is delivered within 7 days at the latest.
